Missile Command Post (MCP) is an important and central operational unit controlling a number of launch pads assigned to it. Missile Command Post has been configured with two separate shelters mounted on Tatra 8x8 Chassis. One shelter is Non-EMI shelter housing two DG sets along with an AMF panel. A V-Sat antenna is mounted on top of the Non-EMI shelter and integrated. The other shelter is an EMI Shelter housing equipment racks, communication consoles, UPS, two Air Conditioning units, one electro mechanical mast and NBC filter. The required modifications, the shelters and all their pay-load integration and the mandatory QT and QC checks have all been successfully done at Speck’s facility at Cherlapally and delivered to MoD through ECIL. Speck Systems Limited has now been earmarked as the production agency for the project.
Generally, Cell operators install towers for their equipment operation. These towers are static. The concept of "Cell Site" on wheel was originated by experience during natural calamities or VVIP visits at remote locations. By having "Cell site" on wheels, the unit can be moved to any remote location and establish the communication link.
The COW accommodates Communication equipment with BTS and Microwave antenna. The Antenna Masts used are of 23 M height. These masts are 4.5M when retracted. This makes it necessary to have a mechanism to move the Antenna Mast to the roof top for stowage in horizontal position by Winch mechanism for transportation purpose. For erection, the Mast is brought down by the same mechanism to position vertically before erecting to full height.
The shelter also has a compartment housing a DG set of 15KVA for power requirement to the equipment and Air Conditioners.
